Robert Lenfert, a young American archaeologist preparing for a Ph.D at the University of Nottingham, is the second recipient of the GAMA (Gatliff/Angus Macleod Archive) Award. This is funded by The Gatliff Trust and The Islands Book Trust to allow students to spend time in the Western Isles in order to carry out their research, which is then published. Robert was drawn to the crannogs or duns, the island dwellings, that are to be found in the Outer Hebrides, in general, and on North Uist, in particular. His research work was carried out in the Summer of 2010.
